KATANA

Japanese swordJapanese swords are Japanese arms and are one of the traditional arts.
The history is old and it is broadly popular regardless of a country even now.

The kanji "刀" is a kanji which changed the form of the portion where the edge bent backward.
When used as a part of other kanji, it becomes "リ", and this is called "rittou."
When this part reaches the right-hand side of the kanji, there are many kanji related to operation which cuts a thing with a common edged tool and an edged tool.

A Japanese sword is different from swords of many foreign countries, and it is the greatest characteristic that is recognized value of art in sword blade in itself in addition to decoration.
Probably, the crowning work of the craftsman who has the function of arms original not to break, but not to bend but to go out well while maintaining the beauty was the status of those who just have it.
So, it was called "the samurai's soul" and the samurai valued it like his life.
I am proud of the "刀" known not as arms but as art in the world as us Japanese.
I am pleased if this can be obtained with interest at a term through a kanji about longtime Japanese culture to you.
